Triptych "Fallas" made by the renowned artist Pedro Tyler. As a result of a very close death, Pedro Tyler wondered about the measure of pain and from then on every instrument to measure lengths became the support of his work. The measure of pain generated a body of work from a personal concern; how to analyze and reason about loss, love and fear. He related these feelings to what I believe to be beauty: the subtlety of instability, like capturing the calm before the storm. Trying to capture this fragility is that I alter everyday objects to give them a new meaning. By putting water inside a small lamp, it becomes, for me, a metaphor for the body. How, thanks to that fragile limit that is our skin, we develop all our feelings and thoughts, and how, ironically, a ruler can measure this body, but not the feelings contained in it. The artist Pedro Tyler was born in Montevideo in 1975, he lived his childhood in Punta del Este and in 1997 he began his studies at the Finis Terrae University in Santiago de Chile, specializing in sculpture. He has exhibited individually and collectively in Argentina, Canada, Colombia, United States, England, Mexico, Bolivia, Chile and Uruguay, receiving awards in the last three countries. In 2008 he won the Platform Award at the 53rd Uruguayan National Visual Arts Award. His work is part of the collection of the Juan Manuel Blanes Museum, the Contemporary Art Space of the Uruguayan Ministry of Education and Culture and the Santa Cruz de la Sierra Museum of Contemporary Art, as well as private collections in Latin America, the United United and Europe. He lives and works in Santiago de Chile.
