- Lot Description
Cup and saucer from the First World War. The porcelain cup (Kalathos shape with Campaner handle) from the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur (KPM) in Berlin is white on the inside with a wide gold rim that runs over the high curved handle. The rim of the cup is surrounded on the outside with a green wreath of leaves. The cup is intense blue underneath. On the outside opposite the handle, an iron cross and the crowned imperial eagle enthroned are depicted in a decorated gold ring. The Iron Cross bears the year 1914 and the crowned initial W for Kaiser Wilhelm II (donated by Kaiser Wilhelm II in August 1914). The decoration of the associated saucer runs from the outside to the inside as follows: gold rim, wreath of leaves, gold ring, thick blue ring, decorated gold ring. The cup and saucer were made at the beginning of the First World War. The saucer has some restauration.
