Sight; height 79 in., width 55 in., frame: height 84 in., width 60 in., Pierre Marie Brisson is a French painter whose work appropriates the forms, concepts, and imagery of art history. Spanning from prehistoric art to Rococo and Modernism, his work blur the lines of authorship and reference. Brisson describes his work as representative of the space left behind, central to the work is the shape of a person, or what is left of that shape for it can become something else. Born in June, 1955 in Orleans, France, the artist studied with the French painter Bernard Saby before moving to Paris in 1979. In Paris, he studied etching at the Pasnic Workshop. Over the years, his work has been exhibited internationally, at spaces including the Muse Faure in Aix-les-Bains and Franklin Bowles Gallery in New York. The artist currently lives and works in Paris, France.
