- Lot Description
Sight height 17 in, width 11 in, frame height 28 in, width 21.5 in. Watercolor on board. Originally represented by C.F. Brower and Co. Frankfort, Kentucky. Paul Sawyier, one of Kentucky's most renowned artists, was an American impressionist painter. Paul Sawyier (1865-1917) moved to Frankfort, KY at age five. He was a prolific painter of portraits and impressionist landscapes, many from the local area. He lived in Frankfort until his mother's death in 1908. He then lived in a houseboat on the Kentucky River and produced over 500 paintings. Condition: very good. No major issues to report, no fading, still in original frame. Paper shows no signs of warping due to moisture and no discoloration.
