A very fine antique Williamson Derringer, black powder percussion pistol, circa 1870, single shot, .44, in very nice condition. The hammer does not hold on cock, but the gun is otherwise in VG+ condition, with fine engraving on the brass fore end cap and trigger guard. There is a grey patina to the steel of the barrel, and very fine pitting right at the breech. This is a very interesting little pistol of the type carried by gamblers and others. It has a steel percussion cartridge in the breech which the owner would fill and cap with a percussion cap, and would also guarantee a tight seal at the breech.
