A type and bound manuscript detailing the day to day service of a young Pennsylvania man in training and in combat in WWI. Colonel Means wrote this manuscript for his infant son, and in it describes combat, time in the trenches, being gassed, German Planes strafing their trenches, attacking German pill boxes and detailed accounts of the major engagements of the 42nd Division from his point of view. It includes copies of orders, and detailed accounts of casualties. Battles described include Chateau-Thierry, St. Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne as well as occupation service. This is the best written and most detailed account of an American's service in WWI. Dimensions: 8.5 by 11 inches, 148 pages.
