U.S. Congressional Desk manufactured by Doe Hazelton, Boston, ca. 1857-1873. Dimensions: 36.5"h x 29"w x 21.5"d. Accompanied by facsimile of President Hayes and his Cabinet, 1877 as well as a letter, dated January 5, 1946 from the United States Maritime Commission explaining the naming of a ship after Mr. McCrary. Provenance: Congressman and U.S. Secretary of War George Washington McCrary (1835-1890) thence by direct family descent to the current heir. George Washington McCrary was a four term Congressman from Iowa as well as the Secretary Of War in the cabinet of President Rutherford Hayes.
