- Lot Description
U.S. $1.00 Silver Certificate "Short Snorter" signed by U.S. Ace Dick Bong and others. A wartime tradition, having a dollar bill signed by others on a flight, this one has a number of significant autographs, foremost being that of Richard "Dick" Bong, U.S are of aces in WW II, as well as other aces, famous pilots, an actress and more. Names include: Capt. Edwin O. Fisher (ace), "Tex" Rankin (top aerobatic pilot), Chuck Kerwood (member of the Lafayette Escadrille), Patsy Kelly (film actress and comedienne) and others. Dimensions: in envelope, 6.5 inches by 3.5 inches. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $25.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
Very good condition. Most signatures are easily legible, a few are more difficult. Richard Bong is fairly clear. One corner of bill is folded. Strong colors. Witherell's strives to provide as much information and photographs as possible but encourages in-person inspection by bidders.
