- Lot Description
Shreve & Co sterling presentation handled vase reading, "Presented to / Capt. C.R. Heath / in / Recognition of 48 years service / with / Southern Pacific Company / by / Officers and Crew of Str. "El Capitan" / January 31, 1918." Marked on base, "Shreve & Co / Sterling / San Francisco / 7277 / Base Loaded." Dimensions: 11.5"h. Together with a cased daguerreotype of Capt. Charles R. Heath. Captain Heath is listed in the 1910 Crocker-Langley San Francisco Directory as "Charles R. Heath, master mariner, SP Co., Ferry Bldg." The El Capitan was a steamer operating in the San Francisco/Oakland/Vallejo area. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $40.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance. Please note we do not accept credit cards.
Daguerreotype is in good condition with some wear to case near latch. Vase is in good condition with minor wear and pinpoint dent on front near base of vase above stem. Witherells strives to provide as much information and photographs as possible but encourages in-person inspection by bidders.
