Robert Arneson (California, 1930-1992) blue glazed ceramic sculpture, "Blueprint for a Slant Step, 1976" featuring a footprint within a slanted ceramic sculpture. Titled upper rear margin and signed and dated lower rear base. Arneson is known as one of the leaders of the Funk Art movement and taught at UC Davis. The slant step began as a linoleum covered wood object found by two UC Davis artists, William T Wiley and Bruce Nauman. Wiley organized a show in San Francisco around the Slant Step which featured slant steps of every medium by contemporary San Francisco artists. The Slant Step came to emblemize the San Francisco mantra, "art is whatever artists make". Dimensions: 7.5"h x 9"l x 4.5"d.
