- Lot Description
A beautiful Percussion target rifle, with heavy target barrel by R.M.Wilder, of Clearwater, Michigan, and lock by Remington, with target sights, including a Creedmore sight on the barrel tang, with a gutta percha disc, and a peep sight at the muzzle. The gun has a octagonal barrel, and half stock, and is similar to rifles known to have been used by Civil War sharpshooters, including Berdan’s. There is a brass patch box on the stock. The gun comes with an additional steel ramrod with a ball dimpler point. Dimensions: The barrel is 32 inches long, and the gun is 47.5 inches long overall. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $105.00 plus replacement cost insurance.
There is a sliver of wood missing on the forend, the gutta perchas disc on the Creedmore sight is cracked, and the lockplate is dirty, but the gun is excellent overall. Witherell's strives to provide as much information and photographs as possible but encourages in-person inspection by bidders.
