A very interesting and scarce medal and insignia with paperwork group to a white driver with the famous "Redball Express, who helped save the 101st Airborne and other units at the Battle of Bastogne: the medals of Robert I. McPherson of Kentfield, California, who drove with the 101st and 82nd Airborne Regiments in the Normandy Campaign and after, his medals being Army Good Conduct, named to him, European Theater of Operations Medal with two stars, one bronze and one silver, American Defense Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, a Marksmanship badge bar "Rifle," a d a number of photos of McPherson including a larger one of McPherson in field uniform and helmet, one with a Thompson sub-machine gun, one with an African-American Medic, and a number of others including some of his truck. and a number of period mimeographs of his records, confirming his service, especially as attached to the Airborne at Normandy and after.
Also a bag of other World War II items that came along with this medal and badge grouping and which may or may not have been McPherson's: a heavy sterling marked Combat Infantry Badge, an Army officer's peaked cap eagle badge, an unnamed Good Conduct Medal, a US World War II Occupation Medal with no ribbon, a USAF Oklahoma City nickled badge, and a small variety of other US insignia and ribbon bars.
