Framed document signed by Rutherford Hayes (1822-1893), as President, February 11, 1881, authorizing the Seal of the United States to be affixed to, "a warrant authorizing William A. Phillipor to receive into custody Archibald A. Brown a fugitive from the justice of the united States......R.B.Hayes , Washington, 11th Feby, 1881. Stamped verso, "The Kenneth W. Rendell Gallery, Inc. / 200 West 57th Street, Suite 610 / New York, New York 10019. Dimensions: (letter, sight) 8.37"h x 7.62"w; (overall) 14.25"h x 19.25"w. Hayes was the nineteenth President of the United States, 1877-1881. Provenance: Purchased from Rendell Gallery New York $595. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $45.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance. Please note we do not accept credit cards.
Very good, two horizontal creases from folding, slight fading (please see photos). Did not examine out of frame.
