Unframed Henry Bacon oil on wood panel interior genre scene depicting a woman looking over a wood cradle to view a child petting a dog. Signed and dated lower right, "Henry Bacon / 1__9". Panel stamped verso, "Latouche / Rue de Lafayette" as well as handwritten numbers and letters and numbers (SS. 557-74-5994) inscribed verso. Dimensions: 8.25"h x 10.5"w. Bacon was born in Massachusetts and served in the Civil War. After being injured, he travelled to Paris where he studied art. He is known for his landscapes and genre scenes painted in a very tight, realistic manner. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $40.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
