Framed oil on board, Monterey House, by M. Evelyn McCormick (California, 1869-1948). Signed lower right, "M. Evelyn McCormick". Board: 27"h x 33"w. Framed: 32"h x 38"w. Provenance: The Estate of Richard Madeleine (d. 2010) thence by family descent. McCormick was born in Placerville, CA but moved to San Francisco as a child. She studied at the San Francisco School of Design where she had a love affair with Guy Rose which continued to Paris. In the late 1890's she maintained a studio in Monterey, California and later established a studio on the second floor of the Custom House. She specialized in impressionistic oil paintings of Monterey's buildings and adobes. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $105.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
