A very moving letter from the mother of a Staff Sergeant of the 10th Armored Division, asking for Mrs. McAuliffe's help discovering what had happened to her son, who was among the embattled forces in Bastogne under General McAuliffe.
Note: Staff Sergeant Mudd had been taken prisoner during operations around Bastogne, after his tank had been destroyed. He spent the rest of the War as a prisoner of war. It was not until the War ended that his family received word of his survival.
