Kokopelli and Kokopelli Woman, "Kokopala, Kokopala Mana" by D. Masawytewa. Dimensions (overall): 11.5"h. Provenance: Purchased on Ebay from Dale McLellan, Edmond, OK. $125. 09/08/13.
Hand carved and hand painted. Artist signature and title carved into side and underside of base. This unique Kachina doll with both Kokopelli man and woman fit together both literally and figuratively in a simulation of copulation. Kokopelli is fertility god and this doll is considered by some to be pornographic but, more likely, as in Hopi custom, it is a teaching tool. Ì_
