Framed letter appointing DeWitt Story to be the Assistant Coiner for the U.S. Branch Mint at San Francisco, dated Aug 16, 1869 together with a silver engraved snuff box by Koehler & Ritter (1867-1885). Snuff box inscribed, "Story" on hinged lid and marked, "K & R / S.F. Cal". Letter (sight): 9.5"h x 7.25"w. Snuff box: 3.5" x 3.25" x 1"h; 2.3 ozt. Provenance: Edwin Iloff Silver Collection, Sacramento, Ca. / Argentum, San Francisco. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $45.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
