A truly exceptional Imperial German Naval Officer's saber, originally owned by Kapitan Anton Noldecke, of the Kaiserliche Marine Infanterie, who served during World War I. The sword is larger than usually seen, with a maiden hair Damascus blade, and the reverse guard is named, "A. Noldecke." The sword has red and green stones in the eyes of the lion's head pommel, and retains it original sword knot. Kapitan Noldecke was awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class during the War.
Please note we do not accept credit cards.
Condition is overall VG+. The brass of the hilt and scabbard mounts is deeply toned. The leather of the scabbard is VG+. The drag has lost its staple, and will slide off. The blade is VG+, but has a couple of minor spots of finger rust that will clean. The sword knot is frayed, but intact. The grip is yellowed, but excellent, with all the wire intact. The blade has been period sharpened, but the Damascus pattern in very strong. The sword is somewhat larger than the usual, and borders on a "grosse" pattern. The etching is especially fine.
