Hand carved and hand painted on traditional cottonwood root. Artist signature and title on underside of base. The Stone Eating Kachina is an older Hopi Kachina who varies in appearance from one village to another. Here he is represented as he appears in the First Mesa. He is angry and irritable but is held by a rope by the Koyemsi (Mud Heads). Ì_When rocks are thrown at him he catches them and eats them.Ì_
