Hopi Spider Woman Kachina, "Kokyang Wuht by Aldrick Mooya. Dimensions (overall): 12"h. Provenance: purchased Heard Museum Shop $675. 11/23/11.Ì_
This Kachina is hand carved and painted. Probably out of reverence, this Kachina is rarely carved. Kokyang Wuhti is a protector of the Hopi and is considered more of an omni-person god than a Kachina. Her garments are carved in a more flowing and representational style which reflects the idea that she taught the hopi to weave cloth. Artist signature is carved on underside of base.Ì_
