Hopi Plumed Water Serpent Kachina with Mud Heads, "Palalakong, Koyemsi" by Earl Arthur. Dimensions: 8"h x 7"w x 5"d. Provenance: Purchased on Ebay from the artist. $250. 07/22/13.Ì_
Hand carved and hand painted. Artist signature, title and date is carved on underside of base. This multi-Kachina carving shows two Mud Head clowns riding the Water Serpent in the night-time ceremony. Palalakong occupies all bodies of water and is rarely carved as a doll because it is believed he can cause stomach trouble.Ì_
