Hopi Deer Kachina, "Sowi-ing Katsina" by Danny Lanza Behnimptewa. Dimensions (overall): 7"h. Provenance: Purchased from M & S Turquoise, St. George, UT. 2007.
Hand carved and hand painted. Artist signature and title on underside of base. This doll is expertly carved and carefully painted with high attention to detail. The deer Kachina has, over time, become more similar to the Antelope, the main difference being antelope horns vs. deer antlers.
