Hopi Cumulus Cloud Kachina, "Tukwinong" by Tom Collateta Jr. Dimensions (overall): 11"h. Provenance: Purchased on Ebay from Kate Anderson, Dickinson ND. $590. 10/13/14.Ì_
This Kachina is hand carved and hand painted on cottonwood root. Title and artist symbol written on the underside of the base. The Tukwinong is a rare Kachina and has a different appearance on every Mesa. His helmet is made of clouds as he brings clouds full of rain and his bags and bowls are full of rain. He walks on bare feet and his body is colored a dark gray-blue to imitate the sky when rain is imminent. This doll is embellished with stones from the Hopi Mesa.Ì_
