Hopi Black Kokole Kachina, "Qagle" by Hugh Tankahangora. Dimensions (overall): 8.5"h Provenance: Purchased on Ebay from Alisa Wright, Vacaville, CA. $78.50. 09/16/13.
Hand carved and hand painted. Decorated with fur and feathers. Artist signature on underside of foot. This Kachina wears Anglo clothes. He is usually painted black but can appear in any color. In Hopi Kachinas, each direction is represented by a color and as The Kokole is a directional Kachina, he can appear in any color. Ì_
