Framed oil on board Henry Breuer (American, 1860-1932) mountain landscape. Signed lower right, "H.J.Breuer / 10". Depicts a rushing river flanked by shoreline evergreens and snowcapped mountains in the background. Bears E.B. Courvoisier, San Francisco label verso. Handwritten on frame verso, "Presented to me by Henry on Saturday, July 12, 1913 at his studio, Sutter St." Dimensions: (sight) 9"h x 12"w; (framed) 14.5"h x 17.5"w. Breuer was born in Philadelphia and studied art in Buffalo, N.Y. He initially worked for Rookwood Pottery then settled, in 1888, in San Francisco. There he became art editor for the San Francisco Chronicle and travelled extensively along the West Coast producing beautiful landscapes. He was also awarded a gold medal at the 1915 Pan Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $45.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
