This is a typed letter signed by "Billy" Mitchell as assistant chief of the U.S. Air service to then lieutenant George W. Hayes on Fed. 25, 1925, in response to a letter from Hayes. It is on War Department Air Service, Office of the Assistant Chief Stationery, acknowledging Hayes as a fellow airman. It is enclosed in its original types envelope. General William "Billy" Mitchell is acknowledged as the "father" of U.S. Military and Naval Air Power. He was a World War I pilot. Dimensions: 4"h x 6.75"w when folded in envelope.
