General Anthony McAuliffe Mercedes-Benz memorabilia comprising a cased small salver, with central coin with busts of Daimler and Benz with program for visit of former commanders of the Seventh Army (including McAuliffe) to the Daimler-Benz factory and proving grounds in Stuttgart, Germany, Nov. 11-14 1968. Along with these is the dinner program and menu personalized to General McAuliffe, with the Daimler-Benz company wax seal. There is also a compact with the Daimler-Benz crest, presumably presented at the same time to Mrs. McAuliffe. General Anthony McAuliffe was one of the Commanding officers at the Battle of the Bulge, Bastogne during World War II. He famously responded, "Nuts" to the German Army's offer to accept the Allies' surrender. Small salver 5.25" diam. Compact 3" diam.
