General Anthony McAuliffe photo album with additional clippings and photos including a striking portrait photo of General McAuliffe in uniform, wearing the newly awarded Order of Bolivar. The album's contents date from the late 1920's and 1930's including about 100 family photos from Hawaii, California and elsewhere. There are many of his wife and children including a charming portrait of Mrs. McAuliffe's wearing her husband's Parachute "jump" wings. There are also a number of newspaper clippings relating to his family and to his service in the Army and in Bastogne. General Anthony McAuliffe was one of the Commanding officers at the Battle of the Bulge, Bastogne during World War II. He famously responded, "Nuts" to the German Army's offer to accept the Allies' surrender. Overall: 11" x 14". Provenance: Estate of General Anthony McAuliffe thence by family descent.
