General Anthony McAuliffe 3 Piece Bailey, Banks & Biddle sterling footed tea service with West Point crest, class of 1921 and engraved monogram of Mr & Mrs. Anthony McAuliffe. Comprises tea pot, creamer and sugar bowl. Marked, "Bailey, Banks & Biddle Co./Sterling/145." General Anthony McAuliffe was one of the Commanding officers at the Battle of the Bulge, Bastogne during World War II. He famously responded, "Nuts" to the German Army's offer to accept the Allies' surrender. Total gross weight 28 ozt. Teapot 8.5"h. Provenance: Estate of General Anthony McAuliffe thence by family descent. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $40.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance. Please note we do not accept credit cards.
Very small dent on interior of sugar bowl and small dent on body of teapot. Scattered small dents on base of teapot. Please see photos.
