- Lot Description
General Anthony McAuliffe small presentation footed salver bearing the 101st Airborne crest and engraved verso, "To General Anthony McAuliffe with our Utmost Respect and Affection from his "Screaming Eagles" of the New York Chapter "Airborne" All the Way 12-4-71 Tarrytown, New York." Front bears "Screaming Eagle" crest, "General Anthony McAuliffe; "Nuts" on damascene style finish. General Anthony McAuliffe was one of the Commanding officers at the Battle of the Bulge, Bastogne during World War II. He famously responded, "Nuts" to the German Army's offer to accept the Allies' surrender on December 22, 1944. 5.5" diam. Provenance: Estate of General Anthony McAuliffe thence by family descent. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $25.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance. Please note we do not accept credit cards.
