A framed 1879 poster advertising the book, "History of the Donner Party" by C.F. McGlashan together with six glass bottles with a red wax seal, containing a quantity of wood remnants from the Murphy Cabin at Donner Lake. This was the cabin where members of the Donner Party stayed through the winter of 1846/47. Two printed tags dated 1893 remain attached, one with sworn certification of authenticity, and the second indicating the proceeds would be put toward the construction of a monument to the Donner Party. These were originally sold for $1.00. Dimensions: (Framed poster) 13.75"h x 16.5"w; (vials) 2"h. Proceeds from the sale of this item benefits the Placer Co. S.P.C.A.
