Mr. Ruger was a bright, accomplished businessman, benefactor and collector. He approached collecting like the Harvard educated engineer he was with precision and perfection. - Lot Description
Four Regency style armchairs with carved and gilded arms in the form of griffins and decorative molding. Made for MGM Studios, the chairs were props in the 1943 movie The Picture of Dorian Gray, starring Hurd Hatfield, an acquaintance of Rugers for many years. Dimensions: 39"h x 27"w x 34"d. Provenance: William B. Ruger, Jr. Shipping within California: Delbert McCrea 831-566-6088. Outside of California: Alexander Services 203-324-4012.
Fair/good condition with scattered stains to upholstery and wear, losses and repairs to chairs. Witherell's strives to provide as much information and photographs as possible but encourages in-person inspection by bidders.
