- Lot Description
Carved wood figural sculpture on a carved wood base by Jose de Creeft (1884-1982). Signed at lower border of sculpture, "J. de Creeft". Depicts two elongated figures, possibly a mother and child. Dimensions: (overall) 23"h. Born in Spain, he studied in Paris and then emigrated to the United States in 1929. He has a strong reputation as a Modernist carver and sculptor and did many public projects. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $75.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
Repair to half of base. Scattered nicks and losses over surface of sculpture (largest .5" x .25"). Witherell's strives to provide as much information and photographs as possible but encourages in-person inspection by bidders.
