Ernst Barlach (1870-1938) bronze, Lesender Klosterschüler depicts a seated figure with open book on their lap. Signed, "E. Barlach" lower right side. Bears "Noack Berlin" stamp and "5/7" lower rear edge. Dimensions: 12"h x 8.12"w x 4.5"d. Barlach was a contemporary of the German Expressionists. He supported WWI but was at odds with the Nazi's who sought to remove many of his works which were viewed as Pacifist in nature. Many of his works were confiscated as degenerate art. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $50.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance. Please note we do not accept credit cards.
