Framed Edward Nichols (1819-1871) landscape with central lakes surrounded by idyllic rolling hills, cows and rock outcroppings. Bears artist's monogram lower left, "E.W.N." and dated, lower left, "1855". Dimensions: (canvas) 16"h x 25"w; (framed) 25.5"h x 34.5"w. Nichols, who grew up in Conn., spent time in England but then returned to New York to embrace the Hudson River School manner of painting. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $75.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance. Please note we do not accept credit cards.
Frame has scattered areas of small losses. Coarse craqueluere throughout, several small scattered pinholes (at least nine), two patches on canvas verso.
