Hand carved and hand painted from cottonwood root, topped with traditional twig headdress. Artist signature and title on underside of base. This God of Earth, death and fire carries an assortment of symbols: a gourd rattle, some viki (Hopi food), a bone and yucca leaves. His face is a skull, dotted with colors that represent the clouds and is surrounded by Soyal prayer feathers. He leans forward in anticipation of the dance, his posture accentuated by the movement of the draping fabrics and accessories so masterfully carved.Ì_
