1871 Dutch Beaumont Rifle, dated 1874, which fired the Dutch 11X52R cartridge, was one of the earliest European bolt-action rifles. It was very advanced for its time, with a box magazine. This example is one of the earliest versions, although in 1878 they were modified by having a bolt safety removed. Condition shows a light patina overall, and the stock is exceptionally nice, with all matching serial numbers. The bore is also very nice, showing virtually no wear. The gun retains its original cleaning rod, and is 52 inches long.
Provenance: (In consignor's own words): "The rifle belonged to Bruce Meredith's great grandfather, Charles Richardson, of Thayer County, Nebraska. In 1913, Charles homesteaded in Goshen County, Wyoming, and at some point gave the rifle to his youngest son, George Richardson. In the 1950s, George gave the rifle to his niece, Doris Vieselmeyer Meredith and her husband, Alvin O. Meredith of Carmichael, California. In the 1980s, Doris and Alvin gave the rifle to their son, Bruce Meredith, of Shingle Springs, California."
Please note we do not accept credit cards.
Under a light patina of rust, the gun is excellent. Length: 52 inches. Serial Number 9.
