In pencil on stretcher bars verso, "Not for Sale". Dimensions: 15"h x 16"w; (overall) 19.5"h x 20.5"w. Bartlett was born in Michigan but moved to New York to study at the Art Students' League under William Merritt Chase. After traveling in the United States he eventually relocated to California, first to San Francisco then settling in Los Angeles.
