Framed Prisma color and Spectnacolor pencil on paper, "A Single Jesture" by Jim Nutt (b. 1938). Handwritten verso, "a simple gesture / by Jim Nutt copyright symbol 1985". On mat board notations written as to matting and framing technique: "Japanese paper hinges / methyl cellulose glue / Scotch #845 book tape / Rising 100% rag antique white Matt board / the paper has been deacidified with weito march 85 / a simple gesture by Jim Nutt copyright symbol 1985 / titled & signed & dated on reverse." Bears index card verso, "Jim Nutt / A Single Jesture, 1985 / Prisma Color & Spectnacolor Pencils 10 1/2" x 14 7/8" / Loaned by: Betty and Larry Warmack, Fair Oaks, CA". Also bears Taylor's Gallery label verso. Dimensions: (sheet) 11"h x 16.12"w; (overall) 18.25"h x 23.25"w. Nutt was born in Chicago, and earned his BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1968 he taught at Sacramento State College. He is known for his whimsical, satirical paintings which place figures in unlikely situations with humorous captions and titles. He has exhibited at galleries and museums worldwide. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $50.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
