- Lot Description
Antique Civil War Burnside Cavalry carbine, serial number 25724. This is a .54 caliber percussion single-shot breech loading carbine, designed by General Ambrose Burnside of Civil War fame. This is the 4th model, with double-pivoting breech block. IT is missing the rear sight and underside sling swivel. It is 39 inches overall. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $65.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
Very good, with no finish remaining and some scattered pitting, but quite clean. The stock has been refurbished and there appear to be two pegs in it for strengthening. Witherell's strives to provide as much information and photographs as possible but encourages in-person inspection by bidders.
