Large ceramic portrait bust, "Frog Victoria" by David Gilhooly III (1943-2013). Depicts a frog version of Queen Victoria on a pedestal. Signed at base of figure, "82 / Gilhooly". Dimensions: 19"h. Gilhooly is known as one of the founders of the Bay Area Funk Movement. He began his career as an assistant to Robert Arneson at TB-9 at UC Davis. This group of sculptors were known for poking fun at traditional art and culture. Gilhooly created a fanciful whimsical world of frogs.
