- Lot Description
Bronze sculpture of a sitting horse by Loet Vanderveen (1921-2015). Signed on underside, "Loet / copyright / 81/250." Dimensions: 9.75"h x 13"l. Accompanied by original receipt, Gumps, 1985, $800.00 along with informational brochure. Vanderveen was born in Holland where he developed his love and study of animals as he lived near a zoo. He made his way to New York where he studied under Fong Chow at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and learned the art of glazes and patinas. He moved to Big Sur, California and continued his work in bronze animal figures excelling in both the patinas as well as the naturalistic poses of the animals. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $55.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
