In childhood, Hopi boys are given a bow and arrow along with other customary rites in consideration of age. This small bow and arrow set was given as a gift during a Hopi ceremony. It is carved from wood and brightly hand-painted in red, mustard, eggplant and turquoise. The bow string is a red cotton string and striped feathers adorn the upper and lower limbs near the servings. The arrows are carved from wood and painted in red and blue. The arrowheads are carved in the wood and the fletching is made with real feathers. The nocks are painted in black. Ì_Ì_
