A Jezail musket, miguelet lock, probably Arab, of exceptional quality, mount displaying an ocean theme. The iron mounts are of truly exceptional quality and are quite early, looking as if they would be at home on a wheellock. The barrel is chiseled for more than two feet from the breech. The lock is of very fine quality, and has what appears to be an armorer's mark in the center. There is an iron plate in front of the trigger guard that has what appears to be an octopus chiseled on it. The trigger guard itself has a long spiral tail that looks like the tail of a horseshoe crab. Handsomely tooled brass mounts hold the barrel to the stock. The stock has a number of nacre insets, a few of which are missing. There are two sling swivels set into the side of the stock, of iron, and identical manufacture. The ramrod is also of iron.
Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $ 68.00 plus 1.5% replacement and insurance. Please note we do not accept credit cards.
For its age, in very good condition. There are a few nacre (mother of pearl) insets that are missing, and the wood shows its age, but overall very good.
