A very fine and handsome Colonial era flintlock fowler, similar to those made for the Committees of Safety. Alvan Pratt was a gunmaker of Sutton, Massachusetts, around 1800. The gun is full- stocked, with a pistol sized lock, and a relatively heavy barrel, so intended for use as a musket. The gun has brass mounts, and a buckhorn sight on the barrel. The ramrod is wooden, and there is what appears to be silver escutcheon plate, surrounded by silver wire inlay on the wrist. Dimensions: 46 inches long and the gun overall is 61 inches. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $105.00 plus replacement cost insurance.
