Silver presentation footed pitcher with beaded rim and spout, grotesque head handle, extensive engraved Renaissance Revival decoration and center monogram "AJR", A.J. Ralston, by W.K. Vanderslice & Co (1858-1908). Marked on base,"Louis Chapman Ralston / Oct. 19, 1927 / W.K. Vanderslice & Co / / 810 / Montgomery St. / S.F. Cal / Vanderslice mark." It is noted in "The Chronicle, vol. 9-10, pp.217, "The San Francisco Spirit of the Times of the 23rd ult., states: A.J.Ralston, secretary of the late Pacific Ins. Co, left Thursday for Nevada, to take charge of the branch Bank of California in that city. Before taking his departure a number of his old employes presented him with a silver pitcher, valued at $300." 12.5"h. Gross weight: 39.4 ozt.
