- Lot Description
A group of 11 U.S. Army Air Corps and U.S.A.F. Aviation crew wings including Gunner, Bombardier, Navigator, Technical Observer and flight Engineer wings. Seven in sterling, all full sized.
a) Flight Gunner's wings, sterling, pinback, reverse is apparently hand finished, pin is slightly bent. VG.
b) Flight Gunner's wings, sterling, finback, marked, "Sterling by Order". Wing is an Observer's wing with winged bullet attached to shield. Pin is slightly bent. VG+.
c) Flight Gunner's wings, sterling pinback, marked, "(unclear) Bros., L.A. Cal". Pin is slightly bent. Wing is an Observer's wing with winged bullet attached. Excellent quality and condition.
d) Flight Gunner's wing, pinback, nicely detailed, made from Observer's wing with separate shield attached. Excellent.
e) Bombadier's wings, pinback, Excellent.
f) Bombadier's wing, sterling, pinback, pin opens to about 120 degrees, pin is rusted, otherwise VG+.
g) Technical Observer's wings, sterling, pinback, pin opens to about 75 degrees, N.S. Meyer mark on reverse, VG+.
h) Flight Engineer's wings, sterling, pinback, quite heavily made, VG+.
i) Navigator's wings, sterling, pinback, pin only opens to about 75 degrees. VG+.
j) Navigator's wings, pinback, made from Observer's wings with globe added to shield. VG+.
k) Navigator's wings, probably British made, with cap-badge style lugs on reverse, marked 323, heavily tarnished, VG+.
