- Lot Description
An Imperial German Cavalry Officer's saber of the classic type, with lion's head pommel with a panoply or arms on the front langet, and a blank shield on the rear langet. The grip is black horn with a triple wire wrap. The blade is plain, but excellent. The scabbard is nickeled, with brass mounts, overall length 39 inches, blade 32 inches;
An Officer's Degen straight bladed sword with double kidney guards, the inner one folding. The grip is wire wrapped. The blade is etched, double edged, with a Solingen maker's mark on the ricasso. It is in a plain steel scabbard. The blade has some staining, particularly near the point. The scabbard is dark, but in very good shape, overall length 34 inches, blade 27 5/16ths inches.
Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $ 55.00 plus 1.5% replacement and insurance. Please note we do not accept credit cards.
Condition
The first sword is in very good plus condition, but is unmarked; the second sword is in very good condition, but some staining by the point, and the scabbard is dark. Witherells strives to provide as much information and photographs as possible but encourages in-person inspection by bidders.
