Bernard Mishkin was, according to Louis Pierre Ledoux's understanding (see lot # 63), an apparent "protege" of Margaret Mead's. Indeed, he received his PhD in Anthropology from Columbia University in 1937 aged 24, after having done fieldwork in the Wapi area on New Guinea in 1936. Bernard Mishkin is the author of the famed book: Rank and Warfare Among the Plains Indians. New York, 1940.
